This past year marked an extraordinary milestone as we celebrated 30 years of providing accessible health care to Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties, ensuring that all community members, regardless of income, have access to the resources they need to be healthy. Over the past three decades, we’ve had the privilege of serving thousands of patients and, thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, have raised over $25M. Our goal as we look to the future is to expand our reach and build upon our services so that we may continue to meet the growing demand for accessible health care.

OUR PATIENT STORY

Picture
We have helped hundreds of individuals with their primary health care needs. One patient we are pleased to report on is “Nancy” from Marshall. She has worked with our physicians and our diet coach to lose over 60 pounds in 12 months. We helped her get up-to-date on her cancer screenings, including a mammogram, a PAP smear and a colonoscopy. She knows that she still has work to do to reach her goals and that our volunteers and staff will support her on every step of her journey.

On Saturday, October 7th,
the Fauquier High School gym was transformed into a busy hub of compassion and care for the second annual Piedmont Smiles day. This one-day pop-up event, dedicated to providing free dental care to residents in and around Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties, brought together a team of volunteers, local dental and medical professionals and faculty and residents from VCU School of Dentistry and Howard University.
The collaborative efforts of these individuals resulted in providing dental services, from cleanings to root canals, for over 250 patients. The event's success involves temporary infra-structure, including plumbing, advanced x-ray capabilities, air and water services and 36 mobile dental chairs. With the participation of 40 dentists and dental residents and an additional 150 volunteers, Piedmont Smiles stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the impact of accessible dental care for the well-being of the community.

WOMEN'S CARE

Picture
In addition to our dental expansion, the Fauquier Free Clinic saw the addition of Women’s Health Care Services. By dedicating one day weekly, our clinic served nearly 300 women in 2023. For many patients, this marked the first time in decades, if not their entire lives, that they've received such vital care. With the help of our staff, volunteers and donors, we plan to expand our services in the coming year so that we may continue to meet this growing need in our community.

DENTAL CARE

This year, our dental facilities underwent a significant ex-pansion to meet the growing demand for dental health care among low-income families. We doubled the number of dental treatment rooms from four to eight, and expanded our monthly patient capacity from 300 to 500. This expansion enables us to extend our services even further. Thanks to the generosity of those in our community, the building renovation and acquisition of new equipment have been completely funded. To fully capitalize on this investment and better serve patients, we look to acquire additional dentists, hygienists, oral surgeons, dental assistants and dedicated volunteers in the coming year.
