Founded in 1993, the Fauquier Free Clinic has grown to serve more than 2,000 patients each year in Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties. Although many things have changed since our founding, our mission remains the same: to help local families who cannot afford health insurance or health care. From July 1993 through 2006 the clinic operated entirely after regular business hours in the Fauquier County Health Department building. The program assisted 490 patients in its first year, and by 2006 the number had grown to more than 839 patients with 2003 care visits. Patients were often waiting outdoors for hours just to get in, and the waiting area was standing-room only. The program's director and staff operated out of an office in another building. The Free Clinic Board of Directors decided that they needed to take a dramatic step to help reach more patients. They needed their own building in which to operate.
2006 - 2015
With the support of the not-for-profit Fauquier Hospital, and a wide range of community businesses, foundations and generous donors, the Fauquier Free Clinic moved into its own dedicated building located at West Shirley Ave on the hospital campus in 2006.
Thanks to this broad base of community support, the Fauquier Free Clinic expanded its services and immediately improved the health status of the uninsured in Fauquier and Rappahannock counites. In the first year of operation at the Shirley Avenue facility, clinic staff saw a jump from 1,816 to 2,504 free care visits, an increase of 38%. During the second year 3,310 free care visits were delivered, an increase of an amazing 87% in just two years.

TODAY
By 2014 we were, once again, struggling to find enough space to meet the increasing demand for our services. Dental patients were still being seen at the health department after hours and there were no Mental Health services available. The time had come to consolidate our Medical and Dental services and work to expand our Mental Health capabilities. The goal was to create a coordinated medical, dental and mental healthcare facility, all together under one roof, to increase our capacity and better serve the healthcare needs of our patients.
Our partners at the newly formed Fauquier Health Foundation, now known as the PATH Foundation, purchased the building at 35 Rock Pointe Lane. Our ambitious "Under One Roof" Capital Campaign was launched to raise over $1,500,000 to transform an office building into a clinic and purchase equipment for the new facility.
