Guidelines for Medical, Dental & Mental Health Services

Our rules have changed!

What you need to know about Medicaid and the Free Clinic

DO I NEED TO APPLY TO BE SEEN AT THE FREE CLINIC?  YES
The Free Clinic wants to continue to provide you with diagnostic services, medications and referrals.  In order to do that, ALL Fauquier Free Clinic patients who are U.S. citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR), must apply for the New Medicaid Health Insurance.

The Clinic will continue to provide you with Medical, Dental and Mental Health services if you are:
  • Enrolled in Medicaid and have no additional insurance and meet our residency requirement
  • Ineligible for coverage and meet our residency and income level requirement
  • Not required to apply and meet our residency and income level requirement

***Individuals enrolled in Medicare or BOTH Medicaid & Medicare, who do not have dental coverage and meet our residency and eligibility requirements, may ONLY be seen for Dental Services

BEFORE YOU APPLY:
Many of our patients who receive SNAP benefits, who have children enrolled in Medicaid/FAMIS or who have Plan First coverage received an Express Application Letter in a yellow envelope. If you mailed that application back, you have already applied. If you want to know the status of your application, lost it, or did not respond to the letter, call Cover Virginia at 1-855-242-8282.

HOW DO I APPLY?
By Telephone: Call Cover Virginia at 1-855-242-8282.  This is the easiest and quickest way to apply.  Their hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 7pm, and Saturday 9-12.  It’s best to call before 5 pm. You will have to wait a few minutes before you speak with someone. After you apply, you will be given a T-Number (see back of page) that you can use to call with any questions you have about your application or health insurance. Language translation services available.

Apply Online:  Go to www.coverva.org. You will be asked to create a User name, Password and security questions that will allow you to check your status, make changes, and apply for additional benefits. Remember to write them down and keep them in a safe place.  If you want help applying online, schedule an appointment with one of our volunteer enrollers at the Free Clinic.  Spaces and times are limited. Call 347-0394 to schedule.  Allow approximately one hour.

Apply on Paper: Ask the Front Desk for a copy of the application.
